The establishment

My Bed & Breakfast is a 1960s apartment, and I have retained this peculiarity thatgives it a distinct tone from the rest. It consists of a single and a double room. Myclients could be couples, singles, travelers, musicians - 'the lyric theater is just astone's throw away' - or students who have come to learn the language. Icollaborate with various schools, which have given me the opportunity to host theirstudents. The house's imprint is quite modern, with neutral colors and somehistorical pieces. The sideboard in the kitchen belonged to my maternalgrandmother, 'Rosa,' it has always been in Gadoni in Barbagia, but I knew that if Ihad a house of my own, she would come with me, and so it was. Also, the coffeecups, plates, glasses, and sugar bowls come from my family, my trousseau, whatmom prepared for me. There are various objects that are my memories, which alsotell a bit of my personal history, like my grandmother's sewing machine, my books,my photographs; it's a bit of an exhibition of my mind. Green is my favorite color, itgives me energy, recurs often throughout the house, given by the plants that inhabitit. I would also like to create events to promote local artists and give them space inmy structure, trying to make it a place of meeting, creative and cultural exchange. For years, I have been involved in photography; I am a surrealist, or that's howothers see me, and I feel a bit like that too because it's my way of living... I love itvery much; it's my passion, what burns inside me. I manage all the activities, breakfasts, reservations, reception, and communication. I use Instagram to promotemy business; the communication I use on social media is not so much aimed atselling the room as it is at spreading the passion for visiting Cagliari and itssurroundings, and I often share the recipes of the sweets I prepare for breakfast.

The host

I am Rosa, originally from Sardinia (Italy), more precisely from the Barbagia region, who came to Cagliari to study. I began to love this city when it still didn't have all itspotential; if you get distracted for a moment, it feels like being on vacation. I haveworked in various fields, and in 2021, an idea came to my mind. I started thinkingthat I would like to undertake this type of activity and link it to my art, photography. It's as if I decided to give a home to my artistic life project AB OvO, from the egg,the Latin phrase, the principle from very far away. My new beginning starts from thebirth of my idea, leaving my old life to create a new one. I began to modify myhouse so that I could open a B&B, where I could live and at the same timeundertake this activity. I liked this idea of sharing that I already experience with myphotography; I decided to open the doors to make guests feel at home. I would liketo reach a certain target of people, namely travelers who have specific needs withwhich I feel more in line. Where I can offer various information: where to eat, whatto visit, what to see, etc... Mine is a house where my art lives, my two cats, and thegreenery of my plants; it can be seen as a peculiarity of added value. It's somethingthat I myself look for during my travels. Sometimes a guest tells me about theirexperience in Cagliari, what they ate and saw during their stay; it's like seeing mycity through someone else's eyes, and I assure you it's a very beautiful sharingexperience. With several people who have stayed with me, a personal relationshiphas been established to the point that we continue to keep in touch, perhapsbecause they saw me being born. In this house, the mistress is a cat: Cleopatra. Many guests have chosen me because of her; she is a stray, and I brought her hereto Cagliari.

The neighborhood

Living in the Fonsarda neighborhood is enjoyable; it's a bustling area located in thecentral-northern part of Cagliari, characterized by residential buildings. I've alwaysliked this area of the city where the Music Park is located; it's a multifunctionalcomplex designed to host various types of musical and cultural events. The largemultifunctional structure houses, in addition to the Lyric Theater, a smaller theaterwith 319 seats, Piazza Amedeo Nazzari, as well as two underground parking lotswith 178 and 354 parking spaces, respectively. It spans an area of 50,000 m2 in theFonsarda neighborhood. The Park includes a series of squares, green and tree-linedspaces, as well as an artificial watercourse traversable via a small wooden bridge. There's a musical fountain with movements synchronized to the notes of GeorgFriedrich Händel. A large bridge runs alongside the Lyric Theater and the smalltheater, connecting the two, as well as overlooking the technical workshops. TheSiro Vannelli Park is located nearby (also equipped for sports). Although I have acar, I hardly use it because the neighborhood is very well served by publictransportation and also has a very convenient bike path. I was interested in a housethat was served by 'ctm' buses, comfortable, and surrounded by greenery, butCagliari is almost entirely like this; it's considered one of the greenest cities in Italy.Cagliari is a livable city with rather relaxed rhythms; many destinations can bereached by bike, which is not always the case. Many tourists are pleasantlysurprised to discover its beauty. It's a convenient city both for going to the beach atPoetto and as a hub for traveling to various nearby locations. Certainly, my workwill be mainly seasonal, in summer and spring, as Cagliari is a seaside city.Although my house will be open all year round, I find that each season has its ownbeauty, and autumn and winter have their charm even in a seaside city like Cagliari.
